Sun Sentinel, a 2-year-old filly by Like A Prayer out of Winky’s Goal, captured a $50,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes at The Red Mile Thursday night with a 2:02.2 effort.

Trained and driven by Bobby Brower, Sun Sentinel got early position by setting the pace to the quarter in :32.2, then raced in a hole until the last quarter mile. The filly wore down Likeavirgin Lindy in the stretch drive for the victory, her first score in three career starts. The filly is owned by Dean Miller’s DM Stables LLC of Naples, Fla. Miller bought the filly as a yearling for $35,000 last fall in Lexington.
