Super Bowl Series starts

Series action got underway at the Meadowlands on a rainy Wednesday night with five divisions of the Super Bowl for 4-year-old trotters. The fastest winners of the first leg were Bancroft Hall and Elvis Cole, who both clocked in at 1:56.4.



Elvis Cole, a gelded son of Lindy Lane, won by a head over Terminator Hall for his fifth career score. Last year Elvis Cole won four of nine starts and took a career mark of 1:57.2 at the Meadowlands on Dec. 14. Gary Finnigan trains the horse.



Bancroft Hall started from post nine and trotted on to her fourth career victory and first of 2006. The 4-year-old Conway Hall mare is trained by Ken Rucker.



The other divisions were won by Bar None, a son of Malabar Man who won in 1:58.2 for his second career victory; Audit, who set the pace and then held on for a nose score in 1:58 for her second straight victory at the Meadowlands; and American Lane, who won wire-to-wire in 1:59 for trainer-driver and co-owner Homer Hochstetler.
