If you’ve been wanting to do something to support the Meadowlands, there are a few things you can do to help keep harness racing alive in New Jersey. First, how about making a trip to the track on Saturday for the big Hambletonian Day program? First post is at 11:35 a.m., with the Hambletonian scheduled for 3:43 p.m. The entire card is estimated to be completed by 6 pm. Second, if there’s no way you can make it to the track, get a program and place a wager or two to help drive the track to a record Hambo Day handle. Free past performances for most of the major Saturday stakes will be available via the HarnessRacing Weekend Preview, which is a free e-newsletter available Friday morning. Just click on the graphic at the top right corner of the homepage of this website.
Third, if you have a horse that fits an overnight race, enter to race! The entry box closes at 4 pm Wednesday for overnights.
Fourth, if you live in New Jersey and race horses, you already know to contact your legislators. If you don’t live in New Jersey, you should still contact New Jersey legislators and tell them how many trips you make to the Meadowlands each year to race horses, and how you contribute to the state’s economy. Some legislators have responded to letters from harness racing enthusiasts who wrote to them, so your letter can be an important contribution. Below is the list of legislators that should be contacted:
