This could be the last weekend of harness racing at the Meadowlands. Jeff Gural is continuing his work to negotiate a lease with the state, but if he can't get a deal done, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has said the track will be closed. Last week, after entries for the Meadowlands were weak, Gural said it would help his efforts if horsemen show support for the Meadowlands by entering their horses to race.
The entry box for the Friday program at the Meadowlands closes at 9 am on Tuesday morning, and the condition sheet is posted on the track's website (www.meadowlandsracetrack.com). The entry box for Saturday closes at 9 am on Wednesday. Director of Racing Peter Koch struggled to fill races last weekend, with the opening of the meet at Harrah's Chester.
