Supreme Dan pulled an upset in one of the twin $30,000 claiming features while Buster Seelster notched his first win of the year in the other section at Dover Downs on Wednesday. Tony Morgan, the sport's leading reinsman in 2006, had a six-win night while Josh Green had a training triple.
In the first $30,000 claiming pace,19-1 shot Supreme Dan barreled down the lane to score a 1:54.2 victory for Ross Wolfenden driving for Eric and Arty Foster. Killer Shark (Brad Hanners), the race favorite, finished second with Jaccar N (Tim Tetrick) third.
Tom Weber's Buster Seelster gave Tony Morgan his fourth win of a six-win night, scoring a 1:53.1 triumph in another $30,000 claiming pace. Cloudy Heights N (Tim Tetrick) closed well for second money. Anthony's Bliss (Brad Hanners), the race favorite, was the show horse.
Gehrig, claimed last time out by Bill Emmons, stepped up to the $25,000 claiming allowance and responded with a 1:54.2 victory with Tim Tetrick driving. Wireless Hanover (Eddie Davis Jr.) closed with a rush to finish second in front of Truly Chris.
JK Bettor Be Good, owned by Mark Akins and Lorenzo DeSimone, turned in an impressive 1:53.4 victory with Jim Morand driving to win the top conditioned race on the program, a $10,500 3-4-&-5-year-old male pace. Payday Partner (Tim Tetrick) moved three wide around the final turn and came on second in front of Western Lad (Brandon Givens).
Bart Cavanagh's Customize returned to the winner's circle for the first time in three years as Roger Plante drove the now 6-year-old former stakes-winning juvenile to victory in 1:57.3 in an $8,500 conditioned trot. Twelve Seventeen (Jack Parker Jr.) was second best. Juanna Play Slots (Jim King) recovered from breaking stride at the start to rally for third.
