Driver Josh Sutton has been indefinitely suspended by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) because the judges at Hoosier Park ruled that he brought the horse Staley Lane back to the paddock after a May 19 race with "four lacerations on its underside."
On Saturday night, May 19--the same night he was named the Hoosier Park Driver of the Week--Sutton drove Staley Lane to a fourth-place finish (finishing 4 ¼ lengths behind the winner) in the second race and allegedly brought the horse back to the paddock with four lacerations. That prompted the IHRC judges to slap Sutton, 25, with an indefinite suspension.
Sutton is the defending leading driver at The judges’ ruling stated that Sutton's “IHRC occupational license is hereby summarily suspended for compromising the Integrity of Harness Racing with actions detrimental to the sport” on May 19, 2007.
