Sutton wins six at HoP

Driver Josh Sutton guided 6-year-old Armbro Approach to victory in the feature Saturday, June 3, at Hoosier Park and tallied another five trips to the winner’s circle to take the lead in the driver standings. He now maintains a 62-58 advantage over Ricky Macomber Jr.

Sutton started hot Saturday evening, piloting Sam Stone and Mealsonwheels to wins in the first two betting races on the card. He then collected wins in races seven, eight and nine before taking the night’s 11th, the $22,000 Invitational Handicap Trot, with Armbro Approach in 1:55.4. The son of Mr. Lavec was making his second seasonal start for owner and trainer Jeff Miller.

“Jeff told me to try not to rough him up too much,” Sutton said of his drive aboard Armbro Approach. “He did it all on his own. He’s just a nice trotter.”

Sutton said he previously had notched seven wins on a program at both Thunder Ridge and Lebanon. As the Hoosier Park meet enters the homestretch, Saturday’s bounty will go a long way in helping Sutton as he attempts to secure a driving title at the Anderson oval.
