Swan Image gobbled up the field with a backside blitz that carried him to a decisive victory in Wednesday’s $25,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
Swan Image was trotting comfortably in sixth when Brett Miller sent him uncovered for the lead. In a matter of seconds, the 7-year-old Balanced Image-Swan Lake gelding made the front en route to a :57.1 back half. He scored in 1:56, 1 3/4 lengths better than Sweet Joe, with Dangerous Tide third.
John Billings III trains Swan Image, who pushed his career bankroll to $480,267 for owner Larry Roman.
In the co-featured $25,000 Preferred Handicap Pace, Beeeyouuuuuu made his third straight victory seem like another day at the office as he powered to the front for Dave Palone and prevailed handily in 1:53.3. Mystery Chase was second by 2 1/4 lengths, while Infinite Justice, who raced well first-over, saved show.
Ron Burke trains Beeeyouuuuuu, a 5-year-old gelded son of Yankee Cruiser-Fava, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and M1 Stable.
Tony Hall drove five winners on the 15-race card. (The Meadows)
