After almost three months off due to a severe infection, the 5-year-old gelding Commander Crowe was back racing and he's still unbeaten after 23 starts thanks to a victory at the Halmstad track in Sweden on Monday.
Commander Crowe (Juliano Star-Somack, by Mack Lobell) made the comeback at his local track and was never closer to the rail than the second tier. He reached the outside of the leader with five-eighths left and put pressure on the leaders. He took command with 200 meters left and won, timed in a mile rate of 1:56.4 for the 2,144 meter distance.
Trainer Petri Puro is getting revenue from his great results with Commander Crowe, Camilla Highness and Fama Currit. His most recent addition to his stable is the 2007 Peter Haughton Memorial winner Blue York Yankee Q1:55.4, a son of Muscles Yankee and Vernon Blue Chip.
