Sweden's V75, V64 now at Meadowlands

June 22, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Multi-million dollar pools and huge potential payoffs are the selling points of two new exotic wagers from Sweden the Meadowlands will add to its lineup on June 27.

The V75 and V64 are bankroll-friendly exotic wagers on Swedish trotting races that require bettors to pick the winners of multiple races. The V75 is a 10-cent based Pick 7 wager in which bettors win by selecting the winning horse in seven races. Bettors win consolation prizes for selecting five or six out of seven.

The V64 is a 20-cent based Pick 6 wager in which bettors win for picking six winners from six races at Sweden’s Solvalla Racecourse each week. There are also consolation payouts for picking four and five winners.

The V75 and V64 are extremely popular bets in Europe, with average weekly pool sizes that are among the largest in the world: $11 million for V75 and $2.5 million for V64.  Carryover pools have reached as high as $25 million. The record payout for the V75 is $4.8 million, while the largest V64 payout was $566,451.

Betting for the V75 opens on Wednesdays and closes at the end of business on Fridays. Post time for the selected V75 races from Sweden is 8 a.m. on Saturdays.

V64 betting opens on Mondays and closes on Wednesdays at post time, 1 p.m. If no one selects all seven winners in the V75 or all six winners in V64, the pool carries over to the next week to form a jackpot.

There is a quick-pick option available for both wagers called Harry Boy (named after the wagers’ cartoon mascot). The computerized Harry Boy bet picks the horses for the bettor; however, the selections are not random, but rather based on how others have bet, mixing favorites with long shots. Bettors also have the unique option of picking one or more horses themselves in some races and then letting Harry Boy make selections for the remaining races.
