Driver Randy Waples and trainer Murray Brethour teamed up to take both $20,000(C) divisions in Thursday’s first leg of the Miss Vera Bars Series for 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine Racetrack. The pair clicked first with Artists Dynasty as the heavy favorite in the opening split. The daughter of Real Artist-Summerfield Hall took command from the outset and was never seriously challenged en route to a gate-to-wire tally in 1:57.3 over Life On The Links and Real Heart. It was the second win in four tries this season for Artists Dynasty and increased her career earnings to just over $36,000 for Brethour who co-owns along with Donald Varcoe and Noblock Racing Stable of Ontario. Waples employed similar tactics in the second split, sending Mylittlerebel to the front from post three and the daughter of Camluck-Highland never looked back, winning wire to wire in 1:56.4. Chief Karen rallied sharply to pick up the place spot with CC Dreamer landing the show spot. The lifetime-best clocking was the first win in three starts this season for Mylittlerebel who is owned by Stephen Scarff of Halifax, N.S. and the Turnkey Stables of Hamilton, Ont. The win boosted her bankroll to just over $26,000. The Miss Vera Bars Series will continue next Thursday night at Woodbine. (WEG)
