Swick trainees dead heat

Return Home
August 11, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Stablemates finishing in a dead heat for first doesn't happen too often, but it occured at The Red Mile Thursday evening when Don Swick trainees Zeta Jones and Carmita reached the wire together in 2:01 over the "sloppy" track in a $4,000 division of the Hempt Series for 3 and 4-year-old filly and mare trotters.

The U.S. Trotting Association shows mutuel entries have finished in a dead heat for first four times in history. The Swick trainees were not coupled: Zeta Jones, driven by Swick, was sent off at 3-1, while Carmita Hanover and driver Tyler Stillings were 5-2.

Both Zeta Jones, a 3-year-old daughter of Enjoy Lavec, and Carmita Hanover, a 3-year-old daughter of Malabar Man, are owned by William Peshina's Royal Wire Products.
