Sybil Patterson, widow of John Patterson Sr., dies

Sybil Treadwell Patterson, 90, of Dalton, Ga., died Thursday, July 15, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio.

 

She was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband John Frank Patterson Sr., a harness racing Hall of Famer, in 2004. Their sons Sonny and Tony are also horsemen.

 

Mrs. Patterson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and James Dill Sr. of Dayton, Tenn.; sons and daughters-in-law, John Frank “Sonny” Patterson Jr. and Brenda, Tony and Susan Patterson, all of Dalton; grandchildren, James Dill Jr., Deanna Dill, Amy Matre, Julie Lancaster, John Frank Patterson III, Cal Patterson and Carter Patterson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Sue Treadwell of Sweetwater, Tenn.; nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be Sunday at 4 pm in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Nimmons officiating. Burial will be in West Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Pine Grove Baptist Church, 4004 Airport Road, SE, Dalton, GA 30721.
