Symphony In Motion made it six straight wins in the $20,000 opening round of the Jersey Girls Series for pacing fillies and mares on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.
With Brian Sears at the lines, Symphony In Motion soared home off a third-over trip to post a two-length win over Ubetterthink Think in 1:52.4. Twin B Tiara held on for the show spot. Sent off the 2-5 favorite, Symphony In Motion paid $3.00, $2.20 and $2.10. Symphony In Motion has now won six of seven races in 2008. In her start prior, she won the $60,700 Night Styles Final, giving the Ray Remmen Stable win No. 1,500 at the Meadowlands. Carol Demarch of Springfield and Joseph Jannuzzelli of Cream Ridge own the 4-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight. She has now won nine of 19 career starts and $230,644. “She did not race that much at three, just in some New York Sire Stakes events,” noted Larry Remmen, who works in partnership with his brother Ray. “She’s much, much better racing off the pace and I’m very happy with the way Brian [Sears] raced her tonight.” In the second Jersey Girls division, Real Velocity seized command at the ¾-pole and drew off to a two-length win in 1:52.3. The runner-up in the 2007 Breeders Crown has now won five of 22 career starts for trainer Mickey Burke and the Tko Racing Stable of Greenfield, Ind. “On the first turn, the No. 3 horse [Twin B Diva] was getting bumpy and we had to get around her,” said driver Yannick Gingras. “Then when I asked her to pace past the half, she did it real easy. She was little less aggressive than she was on Breeders Crown night. She’s calmed down a lot. The open bridle on her seems to have helped. Among these horses [in her Jersey Girls division] she was clearly the best, but I still think Symphony In Motion is the one to beat in the final.” The Jersey Girls continues with a second leg on March 20 and concludes with an estimated $70,000 final on March 27.
