Symphony In Motion hit all the right notes as she rolled to her fifth straight win in the $60,700 Night Styles Final on Thursday night at the Meadowlands, scoring in 1:52.2. Driven by Brian Sears, the 4-year-old mare by Bettor's Delgiht held off a late bid by Bridge Jumper for a half-length victory in 1:52.2. Marietta Hall held third.
Symphony In Motion paid $2.80, $2.40 and $2.10. “I thought I’d be a little aggressive out of the gate,” Sears said. “She’s been so sharp the last few starts. I don’t think the front’s her best game but I thought she was the best in this field and that she could win on the front. I knew I had my work cut out for me. Bridge Jumper was definitely loaded in the two-hole but my mare has been really game the last five weeks and she did exactly what I thought she would and held on.” Carol Demarch of Springfield, NJ and Joseph Jannuzzelli of Cream Ridge, NJ, Symphony In Motion. She has now won eight of 18 career starts and $220,644. Symphony In Motion is eligible to the Jersey Girls Series, which begins March 13 at the Meadowlands. The victory also marked a milestone for the Ray Remmen Stable, which reached 1,500 wins at the Meadowlands. Ray Remmen, who works in partnership with his brother, Larry, is the all-time leading trainer at the Meadowlands. Remmen, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1998, is best known for two Meadowlands firsts. He won the first pari-mutuel race at the brand-new track on Sept. 1, 1976, with Quick Baron and also captured the first Hambletonian raced at the Meadowlands with Shiaway St. Pat in 1981. He also ranks second on the all-time earnings list with $25 million in purses won at the Meadowlands. (Meadowlands)
