Millionaire trotter Syrinx Hanover died this past week at Rhineback Equine Clinic on Friday night, April 23, after she had suffered a serious case of dystocia on Thursday night. She was 12 years old. The star studded daughter of Lindy Lane-Minx Hanover had a spectacular career on the racetrack winning nineteen of her twenty one starts and never being worse than second for the Need To Know Stables LLC of New Jersey. Syrinx Hanover earned just shy of $1.7 million lifetime and took home many of the top trotting events including two Breeders’ Crown Championships, The Hambletonian Oaks, and The Matron Stakes in her final career start at Dover Downs. Syrinx Hanover had four foals during her broodmare career, in which three of the four have taken winning records, including Syrinx who was a stakes winner at two. Syrinx Hanover was purchased by Little E LLC in September of 2005 and spent her final years at Allerage Farm in Stanfordville, NY. She has a yearling filly by Yankee Glide that will be sold this fall. The loss of Syrinx Hanover comes almost a year after Allerage Farms lost the broodmare Chilli Bowl to old age.
