Dink Adoo never saw the rail, but still managed to turn in a 1:58.1 win in the $10,800 Preferred Handicap Trot at Monticello Wednesday afternoon.

Dink Adoo, the 1-2 favorite, was assigned the eight hole, so driver Brian Sears took him back off the gate and considered settling in the rail sixth as the field reached the first quarter in :29.1. Sears reconsidered, and then pulled the 7-year-old gelded son of Inquirer out to take the first-over trip.

Sears and Dink Adoo ground to the lead by the three-quarters in 1:28.3, then trotted home to win by three-quarters of a length. Iroquoindiangiver (Billy Parker Jr.) was second and Near The Limit (Larry Stalbaum) came from last to take third.

Dink Adoo lines two wins and three place finishes from five starts this year with $39,400 in earnings. The 2005 Su Mac Lad champ is owned by The Panhellenic Stable Corp. and is trained by Ken Rucker.
