Take your best shot at Jug

May 22, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Even if you don’t own a horse, you can take your best shot at winning the Little Brown Jug beginning today. Just go to jugbarn.com today to create your own stable and participate in the Little Brown Jug Fantasy Stable contest.

Modeled after the popular “Road to the Roses” contest for the Kentucky Derby, jugbarn.com allows players to select horses and accumulate points for each of the 14 scheduled contest races leading up to and including the Sept. 21 Little Brown Jug. Contestants will also select two trainers and two drivers. Players will accumulate points if their horses are among the top five finishers in each race.

There is no entry fee to play. Valuable prizes will be awarded to the top contestants. The first place prize is a John Deere Buck ATV valued at $7,000, courtesy of John Deere and the U.S. Trotting Association-Harness Tracks of America Members Benefit Program. Tickets to next year’s Jugette Day and Jug Day are also included. Other prizes include popular electronics, tickets to the Jug, and souvenir jackets and hats. The jackets and hats are provided by Jim Winske’s Embroidery Limited, the new Little Brown Jug souvenir vendor.

Jugbarn.com is a joint venture between the Delaware County Fair, home of the Little Brown Jug, and www.harnessracing.com, the daily news web site of The Horseman And Fair World magazine, and is sponsored in part by Youbet.com.

“This contest is all about involving fans in one of the sport’s greatest events, the Little Brown Jug,” said Phil Terry, director of marketing for the Little Brown Jug. “Fans throughout the world can play this contest by selecting their stable of horses and following the races.”

Jug Barn Fantasy Stable players can keep up with all the latest news about the horses eligible to the Little Brown Jug by reading the news scroll at the top of the web site, or by visiting www.harnessracing.com.

“The 3-year-old pacing colt season begins in earnest with the North America Cup on June 10, and harnessracing.com and The Horseman and Fair World carry all the latest news about the horses on the road to the Little Brown Jug, so we’re happy to be involved with the Little Brown Jug Barn Fantasy Stable,” said Kathy Parker, editor of The Horseman.
