Talespinner kept his undefeated streak alive to capture the $50,000 Bridger Trotting Series final at Mohawk Racetrack, winning in 1:56.2 Thursday night. With the effort, Talespinner set the series record, erasing the mark previously held by Windsong Espoir.
Regular pilot Mario Baillargeon wasted little time as he fired Talespinner to the lead from post seven as the field past the opening quarter of :29.2. As the field headed towards the half, Talespinner earned the respect of his rivals as no one forced an attack on the son of Conway Hall. Just In (Mike Saftic) enjoyed a pocket trip throughout the mile and Gotabegoodtoblucky (Steve Condren) was following in third.
Talespinner took his rivals past the middle half of :58.4 and 1:27.4. As the talented group of two-year-old's headed for home, Talespinner drew away from his rivals to win by over five lengths for trainer Ben Baillargeon.Just In held on for second over Gotabgoodtoblucky.
In the post race interview, driver Mario Baillargeon said Talespinner went a training mile.
"I thought tonight leaving the gate he was more business. He's maturing very well especially coming off the gate. I never really asked him, I just kept his attention. It was more of a training mile for him. He's a very good natured horse and he's just playing out there but eventually I will have to ask him for more speed," Baillargeon commented.
Talespinner is owned by Richard Berthiaume and now has career earnings of $43,000. He paid $2.10 for the victory. (WEG)
