Talk Of The Tube takes Pompano trot

December 27, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Talk Of The Tube, the lone mare in the field against eight male rivals, was able to give the fans something to talk about in capturing the $6,500 seventh race feature trot at the Isle Casino & Racing at Pompano Park Wednesday by a nose in a lifetime mark of 1:56.4.

The race started off with Cisco Hall and driver Tom Sells shooting to the early lead from the far outside in post nine, passing the opening quarter mark in :28.1 with Sonofapreacherman (Anthony Napolitano) also leaving from post seven and getting the two-hole trip.

To the half mile in :58.2, Cicso Hall held the field at bay as Ashcos Scotty (David Ingraham) began to slowly move first-over from fifth place but as they reached the three-quarter pole in 1:27.2, the pace was not fast enough for driver Brad Hanners and Talk Of The Tube.

Hanners then sent Talk Of The Tube to the outside and made a sweeping three-wide move at the three-quarter mile mark from sixth to nearly loop the field and then was able to not only collar pacesetter Cisco Hall in the stretch, but nail him at the wire to win in a photo finish. Cellebrity Force (Gerry Kazmaier) was third.

It was the second straight win and the 11th victory on the year for Talk Of The Tube, a 4-year-old mare by Dream Vacation from the Super Bowl mare, Even Bolder. Gaston Glaude of Pompano Beach owns and trains Talk Of The Tube.

For Hanners, it was a driving double as he also won with Stays In Vegas in 1:55.4. Owned and trained by Leonard Poger of Palm City, it was a lifetime mark for the 3-year-old gelding by Grinfromeartoear.

Driver Wally Hennessey also scored a driving double on the night and is now just 15 wins away from his 7,000th career victory. (Pompano Park)
