Tartar sells Restive Hanover

Brent Tartar said he turned down offers for the pacing mare Restive Hanover for three to four months, but finally agreed to sell the mare to Eric Cherry and his partners for a large sum.



"I got an offer that for the long-term benefit of the farm…and for myself, it was an offer I couldn't turn down," Tartar said. "He's (Cherry) been calling for probably the last three or four months and I continued to say no, but his comment was, `I want this mare.'"



Tartar, a Cincinnati area businessman, owns Starmarker Farm in Cynthiana, Ky., north of Lexington and has 13 other Standardbred horse, all broodmares.



"Restive Hanover will always be the star of Starmaker Farm," said Tartar. "I can only dream of having another like her. She'll definitely forever be near and dear to my heart."



Restive Hanover won the Breeders Crown 2-Year-Old Filly Pace for Tartar in 2004. She was trained by Erv Miller but will now be moving to the stable of Ross Croghan.
