Tattersalls accepting entries for Jan. sale

The Tattersalls Sales Company is now accepting entries for the Meadowlands January Select Mixed Sale, to be held on Monday, Jan. 21, in the Meadowlands race paddock. Tattersalls recently signed a long-term agreement with the Meadowlands to continue the sport’s top winter sale at that venue.

“We’re happy to offer our consignors and buyers a long-term commitment to selling at the Meadowlands,” sale manager Geoffrey Stein said. “It’s definitely proven over the past 30 years to be the sport’s number one marketplace,” he continued. Stein noted that the new enlarged and remodeled race paddock there will make it better than ever for consignors and buyers alike. “Plus, the track’s winter meet starts to swing into full gear at that time, and the demand for horses is sure to be incredible,” he added.

Last January’s Meadowlands sale grossed $7.3-million and saw four horses sell for $200,000 or more and 11 bring $100,000 and higher. “The demand for top racehorses that can do at the major tracks is phenomenal right now, and mares with commercial pedigrees are also bringing top dollar. There’s no better time or place to sell,” Stein said.
