With a burst of speed Tattoo Hall circled the pacesetter Great Baldini as the field headed up the backstretch and gained command at the three-quarter pole before going on to score a victory in Monticello Raceway's pacing feature on Tuesday afternoon. Twenty-year-old Jordan Stratton handled the driving chores for co-owner and trainer Luanne Kroninger and guided the 6-year-old Cambest gelding to a seasonal best when they stopped the timer in 1:55.3. The victory by Tattoo Hall was his second in a row and third in 10 seasonal starts. After they started from post position four Stratton angled his pacer toward the pylons and was in fourth position when the leaders passed the quarter pole in a swift :28.3 As the field headed toward the half-mile marker Stratton moved Tattoo Hall to the outside but they were still in fourth some four lengths behind the pacesetter Great Balldini who was driven by Mike Forte. However, as the field headed for the three-quarters Tattoo Hall scooted by the leaders and was clear by a full length as they headed into the final turn. From there Tattoo Hall held off a late charge from Flirtin Forever (Mike Merton) and went on to a solid one-length triumph. Tattoo Hall, also co-owned by S & P Racing Stable, was sent off as the favorite in the race and returned a $5 win payoff. The victory was one of three on the card for Stratton and though Bruce Aldrich Jr. won with Ellen Hauer’s Torben in 1:59.1 and with Coastal Highway (1:58.3), who he co-owns with Nick Logothetis, Stratton continues to lead the veteran reinsman in races won here this season 85-83.
