Teagen takes trotting series division wire to wire

Teagan continued her march through the Maple Lane Trot at The Meadows on Thursday, scoring wire to wire and marking herself as the likely favorite for next week's series final.

Teagan won a division of the opening leg of the series for 3- and 4-year-old filly and mare trotters with a strong uncovered move. On Tuesday, Randy Tharps changed tactics and sent the daughter of SJ's Photo to the front. She won in 2:00.3, three-quarters of a length better than Indiana Hanover. Digital Pix was third. Lou Goans trains Teagan for William and Maureen Kirwan.

Ice Princess and Tony Hall took the other $10,000 Maple Lane Trot division with a “Lightning Lane” victory in 1:59.1. David Wade owns and trains the daughter of Self Possessed

In the $20,000 Open/Preferred Handicap trot, Primo Spur, who equaled the track record for 4-year-old geldings on Feb. 21, was dismissed in the wagering at better than 6-1. The lack of respect didn't bother the son of Pegasus Spur, who led every step in his 1:57 victory. Master's Light was a length behind in second with Heza Challenger in third. Dick Stillings drove and trains Primo Spur for Roy Davis.

Whotookwhat and trainer-driver Ray Paver captured the $18,000 Filly And Mare Open Trot in front-end fashion, scoring in 1:57.1 over BV's Sister and In Focus Hanover. The 6-year-old daughter of Inquirer has been little short of a win machine over the course of her career with 40 victories in 96 starts. That's a win percentage of 41.7 for owners William and Barbara Paull. (The Meadows)
