With an amazing move along the rail, Southwind Lynx took the Meadowlands Pace Saturday in 1:49.1.  Tim Tetrick, the leading driver in terms of wins and earnings, piloted the colt to his new lifetime best.

Kenneth J lead the pace to the quarter in :26.1 after which Running Brook, an elimination heat winner, took over to a :53 half.  Coming to the top of the lane, Southwind Lynx was still in 7th place and found room along the rail after the 1:20.4 third quarter.

A $42,000 Lexington Select Sale purchase, Southwind Lynx is owned by K & R Racing and Teague, Inc.

"Last week I really was impressed cause he was off four weeks and still qualified for the Pace final,” said George Teague, the colt’s trainer.  “He put in a real good performance and last weeks race would definitely launch him into a good night here.”

"At the early part of it I thought I was screwed," said driver Tim Tetrick.  “You know I got pushed down on the rail and I said it’s hopeless; I’m never going to get out.  I just kept my patience and thank God it opened late.”

“He was still a little rolly tonight," Tetrick continued.  “It’s hard for him to go real fast and real smooth all the time but, he can get rough and go fast so it’s okay.”

Southwind Lynx paid $13.20, $2.20 and $4.80.  Tell All and Jody Jamieson finished second with Artriverderci and John Campbell getting up for third.
