Total Truth continued in peak form turning back seven rivals to win the $71,275 Matron 3-year-old colt pace in 1:50.2 on Monday at Dover Downs, a race which was supposed to be an elimination but was not after the scratch of Shark Gesture. That resulted in all eight starters Monday coming back for the $213,825 final next Monday.
Hall of Famer Ron Pierce drove the Jenna's Beach Boy colt Total Truth into the lead after a hard-earned :26.1 opening panel and rolled on through a :53.4 half and 1:22.2 third quarter before blasting down the lane in :28 to win the elimination easily. Mr. Feelgood with Tim Tetrick held off a fast-finishing Eagle Luck and driver Luc Ouellette to finish second.
Owned by Only Money Inc. and Teague Inc., and trained by George Teague, Total Truth, now a winner of eight races with three seconds and three thirds in 18 starts in 2006, is the highest money-winning pacer this year. Total Truth has now banked $1,467,563 this year and $1,570,388 in his two seasons of racing. (From Dover Downs)
