Ten 3 year old filly trotters have been entered for the $340,330 Hudson at Yonkers Raceway, with a pair of $20,000 elimination events going postward Saturday night, with the first four finishers in each five-horse foray returning for the $300,330 final Aug. 25.
Classical Mary (Tony Morgan, post 1) leads the first elim, fresh from her win in the $30,000 Duenna at the Meadowlands. The daughter of Muscles Yankee, trained by Rich Gillock, has five victories and three seconds in eight seasonal starts ($75,661).
Granny Gui (Stephane Bouchard, post 2) won her Delvin Miller elimination, while Michelle's Angel (Jeff Gregory, post 4) earned more than $232,000 as a freshman. A pair of standout New York-breds--Oh Oh It's Magic (Gregory, post 5) and Vanity Plates (Chris Ryder, post 4)--collide with Vulcanize (Ron Pierce, post 2) in the second Hudson elimination. Oh Oh It's Magic, a Credit Winner lass, has won seven of her nine efforts this season ($200.268), while Vanity Plates, a daughter of Conway Hall, has been first or second in five of her nine '07 tries ($60,012). Vulcanize, second in her Hambletonian Oaks elimination and fourth in the $750,000 final, eyes her fourth '07 win in her 11th seasonal sojourn. Bob McIntosh trains the Muscles Yankee miss, who has socked away more than $200,000 this season after going unraced at two. (Yonkers)
