The five-year-old pacing gelding Tessallation won three of his four starts at Northfield Park in March, enough to earn him honors as the Ohio Horse of the Month. He was selected by members of the Ohio chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Assn. The son of Cambest started the month on March 6 with a grueling trip to win over Jeff The Builder in 1:55.4. That trip seemed cushy compared to his start a week later when he was first-over for the entire mile and still had enough pace to prevail by a half-length in 1:57.2 on a sloppy track. In his third start in March he went wire-to-wire to win by two lengths in 1:54.3, his fastest mile of the season. His luck ran out in his final start in March as he finished out of the money. Tessallation is owned by William D. Cantrell of Oil Springs, Kentucky, and is trained by Fred Winstead, Jr. He was driven to all of his victories by Dan Charlino. For the 2010 season, Tessallation has six wins in a dozen starts with a pair of seconds and a pair of thirds. Keith Gisser, vice-president of the Ohio chapter of the U.S. Harness Writers Assn., will make a presentation to the connections of Tessallation later this month.
