Tetrick, Dube OK after wreck; will drive Saturday night

Drivers Daniel Dube and Tim Tetrick sustained only minor injuries in an accident during baby races Saturday morning at the Meadowlands. Tetrick will drive as scheduled at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday evening, while Dube is set to drive the entire Meadowlands card.  While both drivers were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for evaluation, neither was admitted.
The accident was sparked when one of the fillies in the second baby race of the morning, Apple Business, driven by Marcus Miller, fell down and interfered with those behind her.

“I was following Marcus Miller, right on his helmet,” said Tetrick who was driving Unsolved Mystery, “and that horse either caught a shoe or stepped out of the hobble.  I should have run him over but I tried to miss him and go around.  Instead, I hooked his wheel and went flying and landed on my head and jammed my shoulder.

“Nothing’s broken,” continued Tetrick, who had already landed in Canada.  “I got the air knocked out of me and it hurt to breathe for a while.  I’m stiff.  Right now, I have a lost of road rash and tomorrow morning, I won’t be able to move, but for now, I’ll be able to block it out when I go to the gate tonight.”

Daniel Dube was in the sulky behind Laugh Away, two horses behind Tetrick, when the accident happened.

“I landed on the same shoulder I dislocated in 2001 and I was afraid I did it again,” Dube said, “but the x-ray showed nothing.  The doctor told me to come back for an MRI in two to three days if it does not improve.  My right knee is cut pretty deeply, but it did not need stitches.  I’m cleaned up and ready to go.”

The other drivers involved in the accident, Ed Lohmeyer and David Miller, sustained minor bruises. (Meadowlands)
