December 02, 2006 Send To A Friend  | Print View

December and driver Tim Tetrick both made their debut at Yonkers Raceway Friday night and both figure to hang around for a while after he won his first three drives, all with favored pacing mares. Tetrick, who made a name for himself in home state of Illinois before relocating to Delaware earlier this season, wasted no time getting his feet wet on a wind-driven, rainy Westchester County evening.

The 4-year-old Spectacular Winner ($4.20) lasted on the lead in the $5,000 second race, while 8-year-old Next Wave ($4.20) was a first-over winner in the $6,000 third race. etrick completed his natural hat trick when the 5-year-old Chevie Pride was an odds-on ($2.60) winner in the $5,000 fifth race.

He also hit the board in his other three assignments, with a second and a pair of thirds.

“I figured since Dover was dark Fridays, I'd come up here,” Tetrick said. “I’d never seen so much traffic,” said the native of Flora, Ill. Tetrick, who just turned 25 in late November, is wrapping up a career season. His 604 driving victories place him fourth in North America, while his more than $4.1 million in purses.just slip him into the top 20.

In his brief career, Tetrick has more than 2,400 driving victories and nearly $19 million in purses. “I’m hoping to have some success at Yonkers, and get to show up more often,” he said. (Yonkers)
