Tetrick on mend after hip replacement surgery

Tim Tetrick, the sport’s leading money-winning driver this year, reports to the Meadowlands publicity department that he is doing well after undergoing hip replacement surgery Monday.   

"I got out of surgery at 11:30 (Monday morning) and was walking by 5:00,” Tetrick said Thursday. “Today I'm doing even better. There is minimal discomfort. I'm doing fine. My mother and father are here with me. I'm going to be taking it easy through the holidays and see where I am from there. My original intention was to come back Feb. 1, so we'll see."
 
Tetrick, 27, has suffered from a degenerative hip condition since childhood. He had his right hip replaced at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia and plans to undergo the same surgery on his left hip next December. 
 
Tetrick concluded the 2008 season with $19.7 million in purses won, breaking his own single season earnings record of $18.3 million established in 2007.(Meadowlands)
