Thatsnotmyname equals record in Merrie Annabelle

New Jersey Sire Stakes champion Thatsnotmyname set a new standard in Saturday’s $437,000 Merrie Annabelle final for freshman filly trotters with a track record equaling 1:55 effort. Driven by John Campbell for trainer Jimmy Takter, the 1-5 favorite earned her third win in four starts. Crème De Cocoa finished second, followed by Fitness Girl.

 

The Windsong’s Legacy filly got away third as Grace Marie fired to the lead from post six for George Brennan, followed by Refuse To Lose and Yannick Gingras. After a :28.2 opening panel, Grace Marie broke stride on the lead, and Thatsnotmyname, out from third, quickly took control. Campbell and the Order By Stable-owned filly clicked off fractions of :57.4 and 1:26.3 before crossing the wire in front.

 

Bred by Perretti Farms, Thatsnotmyname shaved a fifth of a second off her lifetime best, taken in her Merrie Annabelle elimination win. The filly raised her seasonal bankroll to $335,250 with the win, paying $2.40, $2.20 and $2.10. The time equaled Macaria Hanover’s 1:55 mark, set in 2005 and eclipsed the stakes record of 1:55.1, held by CR Kay Suzie, Miss Wisconsin and Poof She's Gone.
