Axson Hanover cut wicked fractions and made them stand up, cruising to a comfortable victory in the $26,900 final of the West Chestnut Street Trot for 3- and 4-year-old colts, horses and geldings on Tuesday at The Meadows. Trainer-driver-lessee Harold Brocklehurst sent Axson Hanover through a torrid first three quarters of a mile in 1:26.3. Although the son of Lindy Lane slowed in the final quarter, he prevailed in 1:56.4, lowering his lifetime mark by two full seconds. The pocket-sitting Pembroke Lane was second, 1 1/4 lengths behind, with Sand Allistar in third. Although he had won a leg of the series and finished second in the other, Axson Hanover was dismissed in the wagering at 7-1. In the $10,000 series consolation, Rose Run Ichabod and Tony Hall jogged to a 12 3/4-length victory in 1:59.1. Charles Myrick trains the gelded son of Armbro Laser for David Myrick. (The Meadows)
