Two-time Pacer of the Year Captaintreacherous made his first appearance on the racetrack in more than five months on Friday morning, scoring a 1:51.3 qualifying victory at the Meadowlands. Tim Tetrick drove the 4-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere for trainer Tony Alagna. (A link to the video of the race can be found below)
Taking on five rivals, Captaintreacherous left from post 5 and clicked off first-half fractions of :28.2 and :57.3. The pace then picked up considerably as The Captain reached the three-quarters in 1:25.2. He then secured the victory with a final quarter of :26.1, pacing his back half in :54. The 2013 Adios winner Sunfire Blue Chip, driven by Yannick Gingras, finished three-quarters of a length behind in second.
"He was very good," Captaintreacherous Racing's Myron Bell told harnessracing.com. "There was a very strong wind in their face going up the backside. He did it very easy and Timmy said he was very good. We're very happy and very excited.
"We really didn't have any time in mind, we just wanted comfortable. He went as slow as he could to the half; you can't go much slower than that. But that last half in :54 and last quarter in :26,1, he was very good."

Bell said Captaintreacherous will qualify either next week or the following week. Plans call for Captaintreacherous to make his 2014 pari-mutuel debut on June 13 in the Meadowlands Maturity.
