Oh Deer! The Meadows' track announcer Roger Huston has called thousands and thousands and thousands of races over his Hall of Fame career, but he was able to add a first on Wednesday night at the Pennsylvania racetrack when a trio of deer came onto the track prior to the ninth race and caused a short delay.
Huston, who was on the air with co-host Jeff Zidek on the track's simulcast show, gave two of the deer the monikers of Bambi and Rudolph, and left the third nameless. As the three deer gallavanted around the track one way, stopping and turning around and going the other way on the backstretch, Huston playfully "announced" the goings-on on the track.
The deer finally leaped over the fence that surrounds the infield valley and the race was able to get underway. To view the video of "The Day The Deer Stood The Meadows Still," please click here.
