The season-ending driving colony at Yonkers Raceway might look a bit different, but those who invested in the invaders Thursday night were handsomely rewarded. In fact, those who found any of the 10 winners were paid, as the average win mutuel was a healthy $22.92 as not a single wagering favorite won. Four of the evening's 10 races were won by "regulars"--two by Pat Berry, one each by Greg Grismore and Jordan Stratton--while the other half dozen were won by those who usually do their damage elsewhere (notice we refrained from saying "irregulars"). Grismore guided Maritime import PH Cardshark ($16.80) to a wire-to-wire win in his local debut.
As for the interlopers, Josh Marks book-ended the card with Southview T J ($11.80) in the opener and 53-1 bombadier Preacher Preacher ($109) in the nightcap, while Jason Bartlett rolled a consecutive triple with Limestone Ridge N ($22.80), Heaven And Hall ($8) and Continental Cam ($12.40). Brian Allen drove Innocently Wild ($10.80) to a double-digit-length victory.(Yonkers)
