With the slots machines at The Meadows raking in $52 million in revenue in their first three months of operation, racetrack officials testified before a House Gaming Oversight Committee that it would be a natural transition to now add table games.
The committee heard testimony on a bill that would add blackjack and craps to the state's gaming site. According to reports, The Meadows could add up to 40 table games.
"It's a work in progress," state Rep. Bill DeWeese, co-author of the bill, was quoted as saying. "It's not on a fast track, nor should it be."
More than $630 million has been played in the 1,738 slot machines at The Meadows in just 81 days of operation.
"I do think (table games are) coming," Rep. Kerry Benninghoff, a committee member who is openly opposed to gambling, was quoted as saying. "I'm not a fan of the industry, but it's a matter of doing it smart, making it a win-win" for both the state and casinos.
