The recently-opened permanent slots area at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino is an early success, according to figures released by the Pennsylvania Gaming Board that show the $175-million site generating total revenue of $15.36 million its first two weeks of operation. The casino had revenue of $15,366,367 and after paying taxes and other fees, the site made $6,767,977, exclusive of wages and operating costs. The total revenue was nearly $700,000 more during the same two-week period than According to the Gaming Board, The Meadows had $87,428,411 in wagers its first week of operation that actually consisted of only six days, paying out $79,320,562. For the second week of April 20-26, wagers reached $88,498,036 with The Meadows paying out $80,972,073. Thirty-four percent of the gross revenue goes to the state, which means that The Meadows operated approximately 600 machines in its temporary facility. There are currently 3,119 machines in the permanent site, a number that will rise to 3,749 on Friday when the casino opens its second phase.
