The Burke Stable's Littlebitaclass (pictured) won the $34,700 final of the Snowshoe Series Monday night at Woodbine. KG Dragonator and Ontario Success received the bulk of support from the betting public in the final, but it was Littlebitaclass who edged his rivals at 5-1 for driver Scott Zeron.
Zeron guided the son of Santanna Blue Chip into the three-hole in the early stages as Zark (Doug McNair) was first to the front well before the opening station in :27.3. Zark would continue to provide honest fractions throughout the mile as he led past the half in :55.4. Brother John (Sylvain Filion) was in the pocket, but began to fade as Littlebitaclassangled to the outside to march past that rival and was able to slide into the pocket behind Zark past three-quarters in a quick 1:23.3.
Turning for home, the tempo-setter began to fade as Littlebitaclass took over command, but KG Dragonator (Phil Hudon) was using his patented closing kick as he was eating up racetrack from the back of the field.
Littlebitaclass continued to lead in deep stretch and fended off a late challenge from KG Dragonator to score the narrow win in 1:54.3. Ontario Success (Chris Christoforou), wh ocaptured both preliminary legs, came from well off-the-pace and settled for third.
Trained by David Menary for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Howard Taylor, Littlebitaclass increased his bankroll to $44,475. The sophomore gelding has a 7-1-0 record from 10 career starts. The bay captured his divisionin the opening round of the series before finishing fourth in the second leg. (Woodbine)
