The Terminator strikes at Pompano Park

Terminator Hall utilized a methodical first-over march to overtake Guy Gets Girl in the final yards of the featured $14,000 Open Handicap Trot at Pompano Park on Monday, scoring by a neck while covering the mile in a seasonal best 1:55.1.

Guided from post six by Wally Hennessey, Terminator Hall trotted three wide through the opening turn of the Monday feature before settling contently along the pylons in fourth place as Guy Gets Girl (Bruce Ranger) showed the way through fractions of :28.2 and :56.4.

As the feature-race trotters made their journey down the backstretch, Terminator Hall was moved off the pylons to begin his first-over charge, and the son of Striking Sahbra slowly began to grind away at the advantage held by Guy Gets Girl, as that one hit the three-quarter marker in 1:26.

Guy Gets girl entered the stretch with a one-length lead, but was quickly engaged by Terminator Hall, and that pair trotted on even terms through the lane with Terminator Hall pushing his way to the front in shadow of the wire to post the victory.

Terminator Hall returned $9.80, $4.60, and $3.40 for the victory. Guy Gets Girl brought in $4.60 and $3 for second, while Muscular (Dave Mercer) paid $4 for third.

Owned by John Bach of Goshen, N.Y., and trained by Jim McDonald, Terminator Hall has now tallied consecutive victories at Pompano Park, and owns a seasonal record of six wins from 25 starts, with $44,774 in earnings this year. (Pompano Park)
