Ron Pierce took Thin Blue Line into the early lead and stayed there en route to a 1:51.2 victory in the initial $32,500 Delaware Special of the meet Monday at Dover Downs. The win was the second in a row for the Browning Blue Chip-We Be Fast 6 year old, now a seven-time winner in 2008 owned by Paul McDougall and WJ McDougall Racing Inc. Race favorite Art Director (Brian Sears) closed well for second. Bullion Bill A (Eric Goodell) was the third-place finisher. Tim Tetrick guided both winners of the $22,000 winners-over paces. The fastest victor was Tom Lazzaro and Harness The Power's I Ain't No Fool in 1:51.2. The Panderosa-Fool That I Am gelding held off Prince Of Luck (Brandon Givens) on the backstretch and then had too much for Classic Cullen N (Pierce) who had a two-hole trip behind the winner and stayed there. Western Hot Shot (Sean Bier) was the show horse.
In the other secondary feature, Tetrick steered public choice Cool Cal to notch a 1:51.3 victory. The win was the first of two for trainer Chuck Crissman and owner Three Point Acres. The Cole Muffler-Annacrombie gelding won for the fifth time this year. Wynnfield Flash (Pierce) closed for second. Home Run Hudson (Sears) was third. Corey Callahan won his third of the day coming four wide at the top of the lane to score a 1:54 decision in an $18,000 pace. XLB Joker (Ross Wolfenden) flew down the stretch to take second in front of Mystic Gold (Pierce).
Following a 1:53.4 win in a $25,000 claiming allowance, Mighty River A changed hands for the fourth consecutive time. The River Khan gelding goes from winning owner Rodney Long to new owner Toby Lynch. (Dover Downs)
