Redbud Stables, P. Rock and John and Duke Johnston's Third Day led from pillar to post en route to winning the $100,000 Maywood Pace Final Friday night at Maywood Park. The sophomore son of Cole Muffler rattled off fractions of :27.2, :55.3 and 1:23 before pacing home in :28.3 to win by 1 1/4 lengths over rival My Boy David (Andy Miller), who the previous week had competed in the Tattersalls Pace after being supplemented.

Trained by Jim Eaton, Third Day pushed his seasonal earnings to $115,777 and his career bankroll to $120,467 with the win, his sixth of the season in 26 tries. John and Duke Johnston are the sons of Chicago racetrack owner Billy Johnston and are involved in managing Balmoral and Maywood.
