Yonkers Trot Eve found Yonkers Raceway offering a pair of a pair of $20,000 elimination races for the Lismore Pace for 3 year olds, and the winners were Thong and Cheyenne Trish, who won their splits in 1:53.1 and 1:53.4, respectively. The Lismore final, set for next Saturday night, will carry a purse of $325,230. Thong was driven to victory by Stephan Bouchard while Tim Tetrick handled Cheyenne Trish. Theose two fillies will be joined in the final by Hannah Isabel (Yannick Gingras), Ideal Newton (Greg Merton), Good News Lady (Grismore), Riverbank Hanover (Sam Schillaci), Ladycino (Jim Morrill Jr.) and Chocolate Art (Jason Bartlett).
In other action at Yonkers on Friday, Western Graduate, driven by Eric Abbatiello, who picked up three wins Friday, grinded her way to glory in the Filly and Mare Open Handicap, getting by a stubborn Binions (Greg Grismore) in 1:53.
Binions stuffed J K Pure Pearl (Stephane Bouchard, four winners Friday) in behind early, then led after intervals of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:24.2. Western Graduate, assigned post position seven, sustained a first-over effort from seventh. She went up and over the leader before edging away to win by 1 1/2 lengths.
Western Graduate, a 4-year-old daughter of Western Hanover trained by Abbatiello for owner Howard Schneidlerr, retturned $11.60 (third choice) for her seventh win in 18 seasonal starts. (Yonkers)
