January 26, 2010 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Three Of Spades rolled three wide around the final turn to overtake the leaders on the way to a 1:51.2 triumph in the $26,000 Open Pace on Monday at Dover Downs.

Jon Roberts put Three Of Spades into high gear turning for home and the Cam's Card Shark-Triple Flip gelding roared down the lane, completing his victory with a :27.2 final panel in the week's top pace of the week. Owned by Bill Lodovico and trainer Bib Roberts, the victory was the third of the meet for the fast finishing 7 year old. Western Ace closed well for Montrell Teague for second. Fifth Wave and Tim Tetrick were third. Three Of Spades has two wins, a second, and a third in four 2010 starts.

JK Lullabye won the photo finish in the first of two $22,000 winners over paces. Mike Cole drove the Bettor's Delight-JK Lady Like gelding to his second win in four starts since New Year's Day. Todd Wise owns and trains. Radar Installed N (Ross Wolfenden) was a close second in front of early leader Dontloseyourdayjob (Corey Callahan).

Jeff Bartels' Kelly's Spur had just enough to hold off Denim Hanover (Tetrick) at the wire in 1:52.2 in the other $22,000 pace. Callahan drove the Sharky Spur-Keystone Ritzy gelding to his second win in his last three races. That's Justice (Vince Copeland) was the show finisher. In the race, the six-race win streak put together by Harlingen Hanover came to a close.

Tetrick had five winners, while Callahan scored a triple. Mike Horsey had an owner-trainer double. (Dover Downs)
