Threepeat for Jans Luck at The Meadows

Return Home
June 02, 2009 Send To A Friend  | Print View

Jans Luck made it three in a row Monday at The Meadows when she effectively used a second-quarter breather to capture the $27,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace.

Assigned post position 8, Jans Luck had to labor for the lead through an opening panel of 27.1. But when Dave Palone was able to slow the second quarter to a comfortable 30, that was all the help the 5-year-old daughter of Camluck-Jans Scooter needed. She scored in 1:52.4, a neck better than Natalie, who surpassed $200,000 in career earnings with her place finish. Osbornes Gypsy was third.

Ron Burke trains Jans Luck, who pushed her lifetime bankroll to $677,228, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and M1 Stable.

The Monday card brought the implementation of a 10 percent purse increase for most classes as well as the return to evening racing. As darkness fell before the Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap, Roger Huston was accorded the honor of throwing the switch to officially activate the new lights.
