Jessalilmixup made it three straight in the month of March as the 6-year-old mare won the featured pace of the Wednesday card at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. The mare's winning time was 1:54.
The track’s leading driver and trainer also continued on their winning ways. George Napolitano Jr. drove Jessalilmixup to the win in the $20,000 claiming pace for fillies and mares. Lou Pena, the top trainer through the first five nights of racing, conditions Jessalilmixup, who left from the four post in the seven-horse field.
Jessalilmixup got to the front right from the start of the race, then took the field to the opening quarter in :26.2, half in :55.2 and three-quarters in 1:24.2 before holding off My Fanny (Yannick Gingras) by a head at the wire. Third went to Garden Gate Tina (David Miller).
Jessalilmixup now has won five of 10 starts in 2010 with one second and one third-place finish. The mare, by Little Steven, was bred by Alan Kirschenbaum, who also bred and still owns the March winners Cat's Meow and Feeling You.
Napolitano Jr. also collected his 20th win of the young Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs' season by scoring with Spanish Rosey, another horse trained by Pena. The training double through the first nine races gave him nine wins on the year here. Spanish Rosey paced the mile in 1:54. (Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs)
