Three trainers to Ill Hall

Trainers Erv Miller, Tom Simmons and Nelson Willis have been selected for induction into the Illinois Harness Racing Hall of Fame. Sonny Graham and Brian Pinske have been selected as immortal inductees into the Hall of Fame, while Fox Valley Memory and Kadabra will be the equine inductees.

In other awards announced by the Illinois Harness Horsemen’s Association, Leo Burns, who at age 91 last year was still driving and winning at Illinois county fairs, was named Man of the Year, and the mother-daughter team of Margaret Seigner and Stacey Schadenwalt, who work in the Erv Miller Stable, have been named Caretakers of the Year. Seigner and Schadenwalt took care of Victor’s Finesse and Roman Holiday and other horses in the Miller Stable while working a night job and going to high school, respectively.

The awards ceremony will takes place Monday, Feb. 19, at the University Golf Club and Conference Center in University Park, Ill.
