August 25, 2007 Send To A Friend  | Print View

With a grueling speed duel between Southwind Tempo and Hana Hanover setting up the race, Tidewaterdragonfly bided her time before coming down the stretch to win the Fan Hanover by a length in 1:50.4.  The Kelly O’Donnell trainee went off at odds of 7-2 to take the 25th edition of the $718,600 final at Mohawk.

Three horses were parked to the quarter, including race favorite Southwind Tempo.  Tim Tetrick got her to the front with Hana Hanover pressuring her at every stride.

Tidewaterdragonfly got away sixth but followed Hana Hanover to the 1:21.3 three-quarters.  The Southwind Tempo-Hana Hanover speed duel proved to be costly as Tidewaterdragonfly came off the turn to win.  Me and My Baby and John Campbell, who got away ninth, came up to get second while Southwind Tempo held on for third.  Arts Fantasy and Tony Morgan finished fourth.

David Beachler and Annefuria Singleton own then Dragon Again filly.  Coming into the final, Tidewaterdragonfly had five wins in 14 starts.

“She’s been getting better and better,” said driver Ron Pierce.  “Every time I’ve driven her she’s been coming from right field…She’s been getting a little closer to them every week and I kinda figured with the inside tonight and the way the race went…we’d be in a good spot to catch the other fillies.”
