Long On Ability completed the sweep of the Tie Silk Trotting Series at Woodbine Monday night with a 1:56.4 win in the $47,600 final.
Driven by Robert Shepherd, the 3-year-old son of Outryt Ability came from eighth at the quarter pole to post a 2 3/4-length for trainer Suzie Kerwood and owners Norm and Isabelle Vartanian.
Kelso (Mark MacDonald) took second and Broadway Seelster grabbed third.
Long On Ability is now four for eight on the year with just shy of $50,000 in earnings.
Also at Woodbine, Insalted became Canada’s fastest trotter of the season with a 1:53.1 clocking with Mark MacDonald aboard.
MacDonald kept the 5-year-old gelded son of Donerail off the pace through fractions of :27, :56.2, and 1:25.1 before sprinting home in :27.4 to top his Preferred Trot rivals.
The new mark undercuts the 1:54 mile record set by Snazzy Millie at Woodbine last Tuesday, also with MacDonald in the bike.
Self Professed commands the North American season’s mark with a 1:53 win in the April 9 Su Mac Lad at the Meadowlands
