Spring Break brushed to the early lead and was in no danger thereafter as she cruised to victory in the $25,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred pace on Thursday at The Meadows. The 5-year-old daughter of Dream Away-Siobhan, making her second start on Lasix, scored for Mike Wilder in 1:54.3. Vysoke Tatry raced well on the outside and finished second by 2 1/4 lengths. Southwind Prairie was third. Dan Altmeyer trains Spring Break for Joann and Joe Thomson. Spring Break, who extended her career bankroll to $317,571, has won 16 of 70 lifetime starts. In the $25,000 Preferred Handicap Trot, Primo Spur got away seventh but used the first-up cover of Michaelrowyourboat to score in 1:55.1. Michaelrowyourboat was three-quarters of a length back, in second, with Hoopie a closing third. Dick Stillings drives and trains Primo Spur, the 2008 Horse of the Year at The Meadows as voted by the Meadows Standardbred Owners’ Association, for Roy Davis. The 5-year-old gelded son of Pegasus Spur-T Tars Shadowmio triumphed for the 22nd time in 59 career races, and pushed his career earnings to $258,446. (The Meadows)
